Klang Valley Flash Floods: More Than 500 Homes Affected in Sungai Buloh as Heavy Rain Hits Several Areas
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 — Heavy rainfall across the Klang Valley on Monday (Nov 2) triggered flash floods in several locations, disrupting traffic and affecting residential and commercial areas in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
Flooding was reported in Denai Alam, Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI), Bukit Jalil, Subang and along the Federal Highway near Amcorp Mall in Petaling Jaya.
Several roads became difficult to navigate as floodwaters rose, while some motorists were reportedly forced to turn back.
More than 500 homes affected
Sungai Buloh MP Datuk Seri R. Ramanan confirmed that more than 500 houses were affected by flooding in the Sungai Buloh area, particularly in Kampung Melayu Subang.
A temporary relief centre was opened at Dewan Siantan, Kampung Melayu Subang, to accommodate affected residents.
Ramanan said the centre would remain operational for as long as necessary to ensure residents received appropriate shelter and assistance.
Government agencies coordinate relief efforts
The Sungai Buloh Parliamentary Constituency Service Centre, volunteers and several government agencies are coordinating relief efforts.
These include the Petaling District and Land Office, Shah Alam City Council, Social Welfare Department, police, Fire and Rescue Department and Malaysian Civil Defence Force.
Authorities are continuing to monitor affected communities and provide assistance with essential needs.
Residents urged to remain vigilant
Residents, especially those living in flood-prone areas, have been advised to monitor weather conditions and follow official safety instructions.
Motorists are also encouraged to avoid flooded roads rather than attempting to drive through standing water.
The full extent of property damage and the total number of displaced residents had not been established in the reports reviewed for this article.
