The Weeknd Ends World Tour in Kuala Lumpur After Praising Malaysian Fans During First Show
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 — Canadian singer The Weeknd concluded his After Hours Til Dawn world tour at TM National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Thursday night, November 5, bringing a multi-year international concert series to an end in Malaysia.
Kuala Lumpur hosted the final two performances on November 4 and 5, with organiser Live Nation Malaysia previously estimating a combined audience of approximately 130,000 across both nights.
The concerts marked the singer's first live appearances in Malaysia.
Malaysian crowd makes a strong impression
During the opening performance on November 4, The Weeknd addressed the audience about his experience visiting and performing in Malaysia for the first time.
According to a report published by Malay Mail on November 5, the singer expressed appreciation for the enthusiastic reception from concertgoers.
He also indicated that he would not want to leave Malaysia out of future tour plans.
The remarks drew an enthusiastic response from the audience and became one of the widely discussed moments of the Kuala Lumpur shows.
However, his comments were not accompanied by a confirmed announcement of another Malaysian concert.
Kuala Lumpur closes the international tour
The After Hours Til Dawn tour began in July 2022 and travelled through major international music markets over more than four years.
Its final Asian dates were held in Kuala Lumpur, with the November 5 performance listed as the concluding show.
The decision to end the tour in Malaysia placed Bukit Jalil among the notable venues associated with the final chapter of the production.
Live Nation Malaysia had previously described securing the two-night finale as a significant development for the country's live entertainment sector.
Major stage production draws attention
The first Kuala Lumpur performance combined live music with elaborate visual effects.
Stage elements included extensive lighting, large video displays, pyrotechnics, dancers and a towering robotic sculpture designed by Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama.
The Weeknd performed several popular tracks, including Starboy, Blinding Lights, Save Your Tears and Die For You.
The staging reflected the large-scale production that had characterised the tour throughout its international run.
Singer acknowledges Asian audiences
During the first concert, The Weeknd also discussed the inspiration he had drawn from visiting Asian cities.
His remarks included appreciation for regional audiences and reflections on how recent travels had influenced his music.
Kuala Lumpur's place as the final tour city gave Malaysian fans the opportunity to witness the concluding performances rather than an ordinary stop in the middle of the touring schedule.
Further Malaysia dates remain unconfirmed
The second concert took place on November 5, completing the scheduled two-night engagement.
Live Nation's performance records list the show as the final date of the After Hours Til Dawn tour.
Although approximately 130,000 people were expected across both performances, that figure should be treated as an advance attendance estimate rather than a verified final count.
As of November 6, no new Malaysian concert dates have been officially announced.
For local fans, the singer's positive remarks provide a reason to follow future tour announcements, but should not be interpreted as confirmation of an imminent return.
